the essence of blogging
A blog, although public, is strictly an avenue for self expression, and there should nort be any jurisdictions whatsoever as to what is posted. Most of us in the blogging fraternity are actually common joes and janes, and whatever we post on our blogs would have little impact on the world.
Maybe, if we are someone with status in society, then we would have to be more responsible with our words and actions. But hey, we are onli a couple of angsty teenagers under duress due to the onslaught of studies. We are merely looking for an outlet to vent our frustrations, no malicious intent whatsoever wad. Can’t we even type some stuff in jest, to entertain ourselves and those around us?
Why do there have to be busybodies who would browse through blogs of people they did not know and launch an entire barrage of useless comments on the irresponsible slander inside, with scant respect for one’s privacy and freedom of expression. That I find it extremely hard to decipher. Get a life.
And the major upheaval that came with the complaints to the authorities, is seriously uncalled for. in our boring, mundane lives, if viewing other’s blogs is the only way we can satisfy our voyeuristic fetish, then so be it. Why go to the extent of lodging an official complaint just cuz someone said something which irked u on their blog.
Making a mountain out of a molehill, that’s what it is.
And now, thanks to the alertness of these civic-minded people, what we post on our blog is going to be vet. For the good of our society, we should practice discretion when commenting on certain issues. Since this is the stand, why nort go to the extent of banning tabloids and offensive jokes column? How about placing a bug in everyone of us so that we can make sure we dun say anything offensive at all? Come on, there are more pertinent and pressing issues to be dealt with than going after people who post some stuff in jest, and which is only meant to be shared with a close circle of friends. Password protected some more. Someone honestly had loads of time to crack de damn password and view the offensive remarks inside and subsequently lodge a complaint.
Yes, big brother may be watching, but rest assured I am still gonna blog with nary a care. Asking me to blog sans my interesting feeds of daily life, is seriously taking the fun out of blogging.
